Rome Community Church Covenant

Having been led by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior; and accepting the Holy Scriptures as our only infallible rule of faith and life; and recognizing the privilege and duty of uniting ourselves for Christian fellowship, the enjoyment of Christian ordinances, the public worship of God, and the advancement of His kingdom.

We do now, in the presence of God and invoking His blessing, solemnly covenant and agree with each other to associate ourselves as a Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, as warranted by the Word of God.

We agree, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to seek the growth of this Church in Scriptural knowledge and Holiness, to promote its prosperity and doctrines.

To sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly by tithes and offerings to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout all nations.

We also agree to maintain family and private Bible reading and prayer; to seek the salvation of our kindred, acquaintances and neighbors; to walk circumspectly in the world, separated from the world, and not unequally yoked with the unbelievers; to be just in our dealing, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportments; to avoid all tattling, back-biting, and excessive anger; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the cause of Christ in the world.

We further agree to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy and feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the admonitions of the Lord to secure it without delay.

Humbly confessing our sins, we pray for grace and strength to keep the Covenant with one another in spirit and letter to the Glory of God.
